This is the heavier of our two tongue cleaners and the better looking one. Instead of a bent wire it is cut from a single sheet of copper, with a wide open loop at the head and a broad tapered handle that sits comfortably in the palm.

The whole handle is hammered, which gives it grip and a texture you can feel. It is a solid, deliberate object rather than a thin piece of wire, and it is the one to choose if it is going to sit out on a basin rather than live in a drawer.

Caring for it

Rinse, dry and let it air. The hammered face will darken in the hollows over time, which most people find improves it. Lemon and salt on a soft cloth brings the full shine back in a minute.
