Before you buy
Has the copper been tested for lead?
We sent the copper vessel to an independent laboratory rather than leave it as a claim. Eurofins tested it against European food contact regulation EU 10/2011 and lead was not detected. Cadmium, mercury, nickel, arsenic and chromium were not detected either.
How should I clean it?
Hand wash only, never the dishwasher. Dishwasher detergent is harsh on copper and will dull the finish. Lemon and salt, or a copper cleaner, brings the shine back.
Is it electric, and will the water stay cool?
It is not electric, so there is nothing that could heat the water. Copper draws heat away quickly, which is why the vessel feels cool to the touch and the water settles at room temperature instead of climbing with it. For properly cold water through summer, chill the vessel first or add ice straight in.
