Common questions
Has the copper been tested for lead?
We had the copper vessel tested independently instead of simply making the claim ourselves. Eurofins tested it against European food contact regulation EU 10/2011 and lead was not detected. Cadmium, mercury, nickel, arsenic and chromium were not detected either.
Why has the copper darkened inside?
Darkening is normal on any uncoated copper vessel, because copper reacts with water and air. It is not a coating wearing off, because the inside is bare copper. Lemon and salt, or a copper cleaner, restores the shine.
Is it electric, and will it make the water warm?
There is no element and nothing to plug in, so nothing heats the water. Copper carries heat away rather than trapping it, which keeps the vessel cool to the touch and the water at room temperature. For cold water in summer, chill the vessel or drop ice in.
